Higher Education Commercial Flooring FAQ
Selecting flooring for a university experience center means balancing design impact with performance. When selecting materials, consider traffic patterns, maintenance schedules and additional performance needs such as acoustics, scratch resistance and thermal comfort.
Shaw Contract designs flooring with circularity at its core. Our EcoWorx® carpet tile and EcoWorx™ resilient platforms are PVC-free, fully recyclable and backed by the re[TURN]® Reclamation Program, a take-back initiative that has diverted nearly a billion pounds of flooring from landfills. These products are engineered for closed-loop recycling, transforming reclaimed materials into new flooring without compromising performance or design. With Cradle to Cradle® certifications and low embodied carbon, Shaw Contract delivers sustainable solutions that support environmental goals while ensuring durability and beauty.
Sustainability and wellness: Universities are prioritizing low-VOC and Cradle to Cradle Certified® materials. Flooring choices increasingly incorporate biophilic design — textures and colors inspired by nature — to support student health and wellness.
