Healthcare Commercial Flooring FAQ
FGI Guidelines mandate monolithic flooring in specific high-acuity areas. While sheet vinyl offers fewer seams, AAHID notes a lack of official guidance on this, and the CDC classifies floors as low-touch surfaces. Sheet vinyl can be more costly and requires specialized installation. Both sheet vinyl and LVT offer excellent stain and indentation resistance.
While carpet may not be suitable for all areas due to FGI guidelines (think spilled chili in patient rooms!), it offers significant benefits in entry ways(walk off carpet), waiting rooms and administrative offices by enhancing comfort, acoustics, and reducing dirt tracked into the building.
