ResiLoop

ResiLoop is an initiative of the Australian Resilient Flooring Association (ARFA) to research and design an Australian resilient flooring product stewardship scheme. The project received funding from the Australian Government through the National Product Stewardship Investment Fund.

Shaw Contract are Proud Founding Members of ResiLoop

Shaw Contract are one of the leading suppliers of resilient floorcoverings in our local market and proud founding members providing funding support for ResiLoop — Australia’s first national product stewardship scheme for resilient flooring.

With funding from the Australian Government, ResiLoop was initiated by the Australian Resilient Flooring Association (ARFA) in 2022 to address the approximately 60,000 tonnes of resilient flooring waste generated annually in Australia. Following extensive research, collection trials and industry consultation, ResiLoop transitioned from concept to operation in mid‑2024, becoming officially operational on 1 September 2024 as an independent not‑for‑profit organisation.

Today, ResiLoop is an active national stewardship scheme focused on building onshore recycling capacity, developing viable end‑markets for recyclate, and enabling circular outcomes for past, current and future resilient flooring consumption. A product levy – paid by participating distributor members from July 2024 – now funds the scheme’s ongoing operations and industry‑wide recycling initiatives.

Early end‑market development is already underway, including a new garden‑edging product made from 75% recycled resilient flooring waste, demonstrating the tangible potential of local circular manufacturing. What began as ARFA’s effort to secure industry investment for research and trials has now evolved into a fully launched, nationally authorised scheme driving measurable impact across the flooring sector.

Resiloop Objectives

To enable increasing recovery and recycling of resilient floorcoverings in Australia at scale with the participation of a majority of product distributors and flooring installers.

To build onshore recycling capacity by researching and developing new end applications for the recyclate, encouraging investment and employment in the recycling sector, and supplying recyclate to local manufacturers to reduce virgin material consumption.

To drive sector-wide behaviour changes that contribute to the circular economy by informing product development and engaging manufacturers, distributors, specifiers, flooring contractors, recyclers and consumers.
